The next time you call someone a fag, a dyke, or a tranny, or say someone’s a slut because they’re bi, pansexual, or in an open relationship, or claim that drag performers are sick, or refuse to refer to someone by their preferred name/pronouns, or stereotype someone based on the way they look, act, or who they’re sleeping with, please know that you are talking about my friends, their partners, and me.
I can’t change the way you think; my experiences are different from yours. But please, think before you speak. It’s the least I can ask you to do, and it’s the best thing you can do right now to make me feel a little bit safer at home.
